Leaf fall. Can anyone explain why suddenly my lovely weeping birch tree has dropped some of its leaves? Is it drought? It does usually have quite a lots of green fly on its leaves but the blue tits always take care of those. They are always picking them off the leaves.

Thanks Steragram. Luckily not on water meter here so have put sprinkler on in line with tree canopy, 30 min on each position. Fingers crossed it will help.

prolonged dry spells will do this. So leave a hosepipe running around the roots that are in line with the tree canopy [if that makes sense], this is usually where the fine roots that take up the water are situated. a good 15 - 30 mins.
So will sudden brisk breezes. I have had several 'blown' off the beech tree yesterday when a strong breeze picked up.
