Freesias, I had some from last year in a small cradle outside
on the patio. I thought they looked a bit dead but that have gone
balistic and have overtaken the cradle somewhat.

I know you have taken cuttings from things, was wondering
if I could think the fressia's out a bit - can I ?

You can't take cuttings as they are bulbs. Wait until they have died down and then you can take out as many as you want. If they still have roots on it would be as well to plant them again straight away but if the roots have died back you can either plant them or store them cool and dry over the winter, either in a paper bag or in a small pot of dry compost.
