Please does anyone know what these little black insects are in my lawn there are hundreds.I have tried to take a photo,but they are to small,they are like black flying beetles.I have never seen anything like this before.

Possibly Pollen beetles. See here:

You will see there is a bit about them emerging from the pupa July/August, but as the weather is so variable it could be them.
"When the larvae have completed their feeding inside flower buds, they go into the soil to pupate. Adult beetles emerge in July-August and seek out flowers where they feed on pollen."
