Hi
My neighbour has poppies growing in boxes the flowers have all fell of leaving green balls on top she said I can have some seeds when is the best time to pick these and how do I go about germinating I live in the n/e of Scotland not the warmest place

When ready you can shake the seeds out as if a pepper pot, which I used to do as a child and still enjoy!

when the seed pod dies out and goes brown you will also see along the top of the pod a row of holes open up. the seed will fall out of these. collect them in a paper bag. sow them where you want them to grow ideally. they will germinate no problem :o)
