Evening folks, think this is called leucothoe, I have four in my borders and they all look like this. Q. Is this their normal appearance or are they looking distressed? I have them four years and always been like this. Thanks in advance.

Hi Taurman! They do tend to look at their worst at this time of year. I noticed that on mine too. Don't worry all will be well in the winter when they will be sparkling again. :)

How much sun are they getting? They are listed as shade plants, here in the U.S.

Sun is not an issue here in the west of Ireland and they are also in a north facing border, are a bit exposed to winds although my wind barriers have come on in the past 4 years so not maximum exposure.

They prefer an acid soil - could that be it?

Thank you all for your thoughts.
