My cousin ( who lives a long way from me ) and I both grow and compare out tomatoes. In her most recent email she wrote -
" Some of our tomatoes are producing little green ones now, and we appear to have one variety which is "flat"; ever heard of them? "
No, I haven't, but some of you guys must have. If so, some details would be welcome.

Wondeer if she could take a photo and send to you to add to the question. Never heard of flat tomatoes before.

Will ask her. All her toms are very small as yet so I don't suppose they'll be any different at this time. Sending her a message right now.

I seem to remember a flat one with a sort of ridged top surface. I think it was one used for cooking rather than salad but sorry can't remember the name. Try looking at Suttons veg catalogue on line.

Apparently cousin M was referring to Marmande, which I didn't find flat at all but big, crinkly on top as S said, and not very tasty, and won't be growing again.

Can't say that I've come across a variety which has flat fruits. I have, in the past had fruits that have been distorted which I put down to an unstable genes or variety.
