My sweet cherry has for the last 3 or 4 years developed a problem. The leaves get brown spots and the fruit rots before it gets chance to ripen . This happens all over the tree. Anyone know what might be the cause an,d more importantly, what the solution is?

The two problems may be unrelated - if your cherry tree is laden with fruit, and the weather is damp or wet, those are perfect conditions for brown rot to set in. The leaf spot on the leaves sounds like a fungal problem, but without seeing photos, hard to say.
