Rose leaf-rolling and gooseberry sawfly larvæ.
Has anyone tried garlic spray as a deterrent for rose and gooseberry sawfly larvæ, and moth caterpillars? Does it work for these pests? I really don't want to use a systemic insecticide.

If you can catch the sawfly in the early stages the easiest thing I've found is just to remove the affected leaves where the little dears are still munching.
