Well the way I do it is usually mid/late summer or early spring.
Chose a piece about 6 inches long without flowers/buds or dead flowers/seeds.
Cut with a sharp knife or scissors.
Pull off the lower leaves leaving only a 2 or 3 leaves at the tip. You could dip the cut end into hormone rooting powder but I don't bother.
Put the cutting down the side of the pot filled with a multipurpose compost. Repeat with another 3 or 4 cuttings in the 9cm diam pot. Cover with a clear plastic bag or pop bottle with its bottom cut off to keep in the moisture. Keep warm in a well lit place and you should find roots develop in about 3 to 4 weeks. Keep the compost just damp, too wet and it will rot. Too dry will cause the roots to die.
Good luck.
