how long does artificial grass last

Rather I think that the question would be how long will it remain attractive? If you have sports field like conditions with minimal chances for debri accumulation and a good field vac it should retain its looks for quite a while. If you have it placed in a residence area with all sorts of organic debris such as crunched up dried leaf fall, other plant debris, bird droppings etc which will get caught between the artificial grass blades...well even if it has good durability it will not be something to admire the looks of for long. Artificial grass is very difficult to keep clean and once placed you may look back upon mowing your lawn with fondness.

I wouldn't either but circumstances alter cases. I wouldn't have it just to save cutting the grass if I was capable of keeping it neat. If you just want to see something green, can't cut the real stuff and are willing to sweep and wash it down instead it might suit you very well.

Afraid that sweeping and washing alone won't make the grade. Only a vac will do the job, like a shop vac. If you are thinking about a small area ok. A large area, well I don't see how anyone can contemplate that for a residence. Another thing to take into consideration is rain, ice and snow. As for rain the artificial turf must be graded to allow for water runoff or you will have a nice little pond(s) that will take ages to evaporate. As for ice and snow which will get hopelessly caked into and locked up into the artificial blades...you see you have to think about these things..

It's like the carpet on your living room floor. How much usage does it get? Is there a dog?
