Hi, my question is regarding my hedge. A car drove through the centre of my hedge and so I have a hole in my hedge. What is the best way to rectify this? Can I just replant in the middle of do I need to rip it all out and start from scratch? Thanks in advance for any advice xx

Thank you. I'll try that and hopefully fill in the gap.

Trust you will also get compensation from the driver of the car to cover the cost and your time!

I agree it can be replanted now and also with MG's comment about the insurance company stumping [no pun intended] the cash to do it.

Don't worry about all the roots you'll have to dig up to replant. Privet is tough. Not sure I'd go for very big ones - smaller ones establish more quickly. Decisions decisions...

I would say that you can easily replant in the space. Looks like Ligustrum, (privet). Prepare the soil with some good compost or soil improver and try to buy some large plants to fill the space and plant them close or alternate to make the new hedge thick. Keep them well watered and the hole should quickly be filled.
