Plants for dry sunny conditions
United Kingdom
I have just had a patio laid which is close to a well established lellandii hedge but there is a small border between the two, therefore the soil is very dry. It gets full sunshine for most of the afternoon but is sheltered from the wind. What plants would be suitable to plant there, preferably a mix of evergreens & some flowering plants

I think your only chance of flowers in front of Leylandii is in containers. You might get a few ferns to survive - there are half a dozen that might be worth try, and I have an Arum metallica that struggled on until OH accidentally mowed it off. I have a clump of iris foetidissima at the foot of such a hedge but it isn't pretty. Or try crocosmia, its not easily discouraged.

When you say a 'small' border, can you be more specific please, most importantly in terms of its width from the base of the leylandii to the patio, as well as length?
