fir trees going brown

Is there a bug which is killing off small fir trees and whats the best way to deal with it ? I have had two die on me and now the rest are going the same way. One or two branches get affected and it travels through the whole tree. I have heard on TV that an infestation is affecting this type of tree ?

Check the underside of stems. Put a sheet of white paper under a branch and shake it to see what comes out! You may not be suffering the aphis Poaannua speaks of. It could be something else entirely among the 'sap-suckers'!

There is an Aphis atteacking Leylandii. Try spraying with insecticide, or hosing very hard to try and dislodge them .Also give them a good feed of Growmore and water well in. but I fear for that survival.
