Mail order for Acers: does anyone have a UK favourite company for these lovely trees?

I agree in principle Jimmy, but some of the rarer varieties are not available locally.

Sheila, I don't know if you are still in Hertfordshire, if so, perhaps you're not too far from Hemel Hempstead and I would recommend Hilliers Garden Centre. If not and you don't want anything too unusual, then have a look at Hilliers Mail Order. In my estimation, they are without a doubt the top growers in the country.

Believe it or not but I got mine from Wilko & some from Morrisons & they are growing well, one is quite big now & was beautiful this summer.

Mail order trees and Crocus have always been very good. Plants have always arrived healthy and well packaged.

Thanks Lisam . . . I agree. In fact so well packaged that I needed a strong man to help me undo them :)

I don't know what other members think but whilst I'm happy to buy bedding plants to grow on from mail order companies; when it comes to expensive shrubs, then I would much rather see what it is that I'm buying. Sorry but not much help.
