Can a very young wisteria plant survive in ericaceous compost as a temporary measure? I’ve read that they need to go into John Innes No3 but until I can buy some I need to wash off all the compost on it to get rid of these little white worm things.
Thanks in advance.

Well its not ideal - Wisteria likes soil that's slightly on the acid side but not full on acid. If you've got any multi purpose, that'll do. Or can it be heeled in to the border somewhere till you get some potting compost - so long as that's within the next day or two.
