Hi Head and welcome to GoY hope you have lots of fun in your allotment. You could also take a look at the blog I posted yesterday for veg that can grow over winter. Just click on my avatar and go to my blogs it is the last one.

If your allotment is on light sandy soil it is warm from the hot dry summer. Winter lettuce, radish, purple sprouting brocolli, try some courgettes if you can give them protection before the first frosts. Broad beans and peas can be sown in a months time.

Courtesy of Practical Gardening - cabbage, cauliflower, spring onion, leeks, pak choi, parsley, radish, spinach, salad crops and turnips. I planted some red onions and garlic quite late (Octoberish) last year but the soil has to be half decent as my garlic is tiny. Good luck and if I were you I'd log on to the allotment sites as well, they are very helpful. Welcome to GOY by the way.
