that was what I was going to say Jimmy. Not hardy in the uk. it is a wonderful tree but I think it would struggle to survive and not do well in a pot.
welcome to GoY too :o)

Hi, welcome to GoY, The info above is correct, but if you still want to buy 1, there is 1 supplier in the U K, I've had a look for you, and although they do sell mail order, and have them available at £18 for a 10 ltr pot, unfortunately they say this particular plant is unavailable mail order, [could be because of the size].
I haven't got a clue how far west sussex is from east sussex, but their address is ; Sleepers stile rd, Cousley wood, Wadhurst, east sussex, TN5 6QX.
If you look at their website, it's www.plantbase.co.uk
hope this helps, Derek.

The Flamboyant tree, Delonix regia will not tollerate temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius. It can grow up to 40 feet high so I would imagine that you would have to contain it in a pot and shelter in a cool green house or conservatory during the winter months if you can reduce the size dramatically by constant pruning. As regards purchasing one; you can buy the seeds on Ebay or if you wanted a small tree then I would suggest contacting someone like Europlants or asking your local garden centre to try and get you one from Holland as they will be importing plants from them on a regular basis.
