I have had a victoria plum tree for many years and it has produced an abundance of healthy fruit every year. This year 1 - 3 have a maggot type insect living inside them, does the whole crop need destroying and what do I need to overcome this problem next year. Never had this before Barbara

Hi Barbara and welcome to GoY. There seem to be a lot of problems with maggots in plums this year - must be the weather - lol. I wouldn't destroy the whole crop just because of this you just need to check before using and compost the ones with the maggots.

How do you treat this then? Do you spray and what with? Do we need to use sack bands in future years?

Pheromone traps seem to be the answer.
