I have a very large tub in which I would like to plant a small shrub,however,can get a lot of wind where it is situated,can someone please sugget a plant ro me.live on UK.
Also,can someone tell me the name of this plant and how would one take a cutting.

I find mine seed themselves wherever they like. your leaves are similar to my 'Ascot Rainbow'. Not as big as the Characias but pretty leaves.

I like skimmia in tubs, they are slow growing and it is evergreen and if you get a self fertile one it will also produce berries. in the autumn the flower buds form and also look good through the winter.

The plant pictured is a Euphorbia though I don't know the variety. It will split easily but be careful when you cut the stems as they give off a milky sap which can irritate the skin.
Just dig up a small clump and separate it from the main plant. Then re-plant where you like. Most Euphorbias have a spreading habit.
