Hi Guys! A tomato question: Have any of you experienced rather thick skins on your tomatoes this year? I'm assuming it's to do with the unseasonal cold snaps of weather we've experienced amongst the otherwise good weather. Am I correct?

All tomatoes develop thick, tough skins here in the desert. The high temps and low humidity seem to do this. If Spain shared in southern Britain's hot, dry spell, that might have had something to do with it.

Yes, that's along the lines of what I was thinking, Tugbrethil. We've certainly had some hot weeks. Not sure of the variety, Tulsalady, as we - like the rest of the locals here - buy them as plug plants at the market and their variety is not marked, although I would assume they are Marmande as they are large, have lots of flesh and very few seeds. They're still just as tasty as always - I'll just have to continue skinning them! Thanks for answering guys. :o)
