Heritage Iris id please.
I bought this at a Heritage plant fair and it was labelled as 'Braithwaite'. But now it is in flower it isn't.
Any one give me a clue? I suspect it is mislabelled. But I still like it.

It looks to me like an even older variety from Turkey, named 'Amas'.

I've checked this and it isn't Tug. there is brown in this and much more of a royal purple in the falls.

You are very welcome. It is difficult to Id from a photograph when there are so many which are almost identical. Cameras often record a different shade of a colour depending on their technology.

Soil conditions and weather often also affect colors.

That happens to me from time to time. I usually get mine from the garden center at The Home Depot or Lowes -2 big box stores near my house. They usually have good stock, but they are frequently mislabeled. It's like a box of Cracker Jack - you never know what the toy surprise is going to be, but I'm rarely disappointed.
