Hi I'm kittt, real name Karen. I've just beheaded pansies. However, the pods were still closed so I feel that I was a little premature with my actions. However, when I split open a pod, it has lots of white seeds in it. Will these still be okay to plant next year or did the pods need to open naturally and be brown before harvesting?

It is early yet for them to have finished flowering so you should get more flowers, and seeds, to play with yet.

Yes you were a bit premature. Those seeds aren't viable - they weren't ready to be picked. When the seed pods turn brown & crispy you can open them & plant the seeds, but they should stay on the plant until ripen.
