Can I prune out all of the forward facing stems on this climbing rose to stop it coming over the path? It has had an amazing show of blooms and would hate to spoil it

Well you can but have you tried to tie them back against the trellis. The stems are quite flexible and if you tie them in horizontally they will flower better too.

I would tie in as many as you can, not to be overcrowded. Cut out any small growth back to the main stems.
