Sweet peas. Any tips on how to prolong my cut sweatpeas in a vase? They don’t last more than a day really. Have tried various methods like searing cut ends in boiled water, adding sugar to water. Or do sweatpeas just not last very long? Have got so many this year as I wasn’t convinced that my autumn down ones wouldn't do well so got some this spring as well so double whammy! Anyway any tips from growers would be appreciated. :)

PS JUst thinking it might be due to the hot weather as I don't remember having this problem in other years do you?

Sorry but this my first year in a long time that I’ve grown them so can’t help. Temperature could very well have something to do with it. Like you I will await answers.

I put them straight in cold water on the kitchen windowsill in the shade, they last about 4 or 5 days.

I also keep mine out of the sun but I do change the water daily and they last 4-6 days , but this year 3-4 so I put that down to the heat.

That’s great, will change water daily and see how that goes. Thank you for your answers.
