HEDGES

Our small privet hedge has been dying back for some time and we have been removing the old growth and treating the ground with Jeyes Fluid and replacing new growth which seems to be doing fine. The same problem is occuring in a friends garden. Is this Honey Fungus and how do you treat it?

Hi there - Jeyes Fluid is supposedly useful for certain pests, but I am not aware of it (or anything else) being used to get rid of Honey Fungus - I believe that when you've got it, you're stuck with it I'm afraid. All you can do is dig out the affected stuff. There are certain trees and shrubs that are not susceptable or tolerate it adn I suggest you do a google to reseach wihc ones. Sorry to be of so little help.

I haven't got an answer for you, I'm just incredible curious as to why you are treating the ground with jeyes fluid, isn't that something that's normally used to clean drains and hard surfaces?
