I have a plant in my conservatory that I grew from seed believing it to be a Brugmansia or Angels Trumpet. Now it is flowering I am of the opinion that it is in fact a Datura and extremely toxic.
I'd be grateful if you could advise me as to whether I should keep it in situ or is it potentially dangerous?
I have visiting grandchildren and a dog.

Brugmansias point down, daturas, or Devil's Trumpet, point up, in general. Having said that, both are poisonous. Maybe you can put it on something so it is out of reach for the dog, and have a very serious talk with the grandkids.

Agree - all parts of both these plants are toxic, from the roots to the leaves, flowers and seeds, so from that point of view, it doesn't matter which one it is... although its fine if you don't eat any of the plant, and always wash your hands after handling it.

My answer to anyone who says 'I have visiting grandchildren' is to say that they once were the visiting grandchild and their grandparents had plenty of toxic plants around.

There's nothing new about co-existing with poisonous plants.

How do I say thanks?
