Why is our mature Camelia only producing 1 flower ?.. We live on the west coast of Scotland

did you pruned it last year? mine sometimes has a year where it produces very little flower. Give it a good feed and if we get a very dry summer like last year then keep it well watered. thinking about it the dry weather last year could well be the cause of the limited flowers. the flowers are formed late summer.

SBG is perfectly right. If your Camelia became dry in the late summer, then it would not have set the flower buds. Also a high potash feed would help. Obviously, the problem is more critical when the subject is in a container.

Any type of stress can cause camilias to 'bud drop'. Drought, late frost, cold or chilly wind can all affect the bloom cycle.

How do I say thanks?
