Elderberry tree roots

An elderberry tree is growing in my garden and it is growing ontop of the drainage system. I am worried about the roots. Will the roots damage the drainage system, should the tree be moved? Also how big does this variety grow?

Is this a wild one that has taken up residence? You must have seen them in the countryside - they don't grow as big as an Oak, but do get up to several metres. Yes, indeed, the roots will almost certainly damage your drains and the tree should be removed ASAP. If it's an ornamental one, you might be wanting to keep it if possible - dig as much of the rootball out as you can to transplant it and give it a good watering in its new home - away from the house! Good luck!
