Sowing Grass Seed
have some patches of lawn that now need to seed. However. there is still a risk of frost and certainly temps at night are below 5C. However, daytime temps are now climbing nicely and I wondered if you could sow seed even if there is a risk of frost. I remember the advice used to be that grass seed should not be sown when temps can drop below 5C and that it has a relatively short life when sown. Something like 5 days and after that f it has not germinated, then it will not. However, with modern developments I wondered if seed was now more hardy?

Thanks, Karen. I think I might give it a go and see how it turns out. There will be plenty of seed left should it need redone. The grass has just been cut and it is the right time now before the next cut is due.

Hi! I sowed mine in the winter during a mild spell, but it didn’t germinate until March. But its growing well in spite of this morning’s frost. I think I’d get on with it...it will grow fine.
