the tip of the bulb should be about 2-3" below soil level in a humus rich but well drained soil/compost. in full sun.

they are not hardy so will need winter protection from the wet and frosts. Ideally grown in pots that are easy to move around. You can bury the pot and then just lift it in the autumn. that's what I do with lilies/dahlias etc.

They do need a fair amount of warmth, and a little more feeding than most bulbs.
