Japanese anemone propagation
Hi I’d like to get a few more plants from my Japanese anemones. I’ve read that it’s ok to dig up plants at the end of flowering and plant the root horizontally, or to dig them up in winter then plant the roots vertically. Any opinion on which method is most likely to succeed please?

Mine are the single pink ones and they spread like crazy. I've often dug up roots and potted them up then given them away. I've done this in autumn, spring or summer. They are a nuisance to me but they are pretty and useful at this time of year.

Thank you both for replying. I’ll have a go at doing some cuttings of both types then. I’ve got three different types but they e never spread and I’ve had them for years. I think they might be in either too sunny a position or maybe too dry so I think I’ll move them when I dig them up. Thanks again and if I don’t have success I’ll contact you in the spring to get some from you seaburngirl! 😁

both will work very well. Many people have a problem eradicating them when they spread. which one do you have in mind as not all spread as readily?
I will have lots on offer in the spring of the semi double pink Queen Charlotte if you are interested ;o)
