both will work very well. Many people have a problem eradicating them when they spread. which one do you have in mind as not all spread as readily?

Mine are the single pink ones and they spread like crazy. I've often dug up roots and potted them up then given them away. I've done this in autumn, spring or summer. They are a nuisance to me but they are pretty and useful at this time of year.

Thank you both for replying. I’ll have a go at doing some cuttings of both types then. I’ve got three different types but they e never spread and I’ve had them for years. I think they might be in either too sunny a position or maybe too dry so I think I’ll move them when I dig them up.
