My mower has just packed up after 15 years.it was a flymo and was so easy to use.Anyone have a mower they would recommend.I want an electric one ,probably another hover one.i was looking at a flymo one again but reviews weren’t good.

I've a flymo, but I only have a patch of grass, not a "lawn". Mine's about 8 years old with a grass collecting box.

It must depend on what you want & area, for me I'd ignore reviews unless they point to something specific, such as "very heavy" or suchlike

General "It's rubbish" without detail are no guide

If you have specific requirements some sites, like Ar6os have Q & A space to ask specific question

What model of flymo do you both have.ive always bought flymo.did see a special edition pink one by Cobra in a garden centre yesterday. For each one sold £25 is being donated to breast cancer. I am thinking about that one but I’ll need to find out more about the make as I’ve never heard of it.Have you?

Hi, my late wife bought me a petrol mower from b&q 21 years ago, it's their own brand, and I'm still using it, and it starts first pull every year, so I would recommend this, although I don't know whether they still have the same model, it's a pro-power, Derek.

Don’t think I’d manage a petrol one they seem heavy.

Hi, if you think a petrol mower is going to be a bit heavy, why not try a self propelled model, you don't even have to push them, but could be a bit heavy if you have to lift it into wherever you store it, other than that, you would find using a self propelled 1 a lot easier on your back, Derek.

We have a Bosch, and as you know, we have big lawned area. It has a wide cutting blade and picks up the grass really well. It doesn't clog up and is easy to handle. Has about 7 different cutting heights from memory. I think it's a good one. Rotak 34R I think :)

The cordless, battery powered ones seem a good idea to me & reliable brand names are selling them but beware the over-designed, overpriced models in fancy colours.
Check that the battery 'runtime' is enough for your space & if the battery can be removed for indoor charging. Also rechargeable batteries will need replacing before the mower does so that's another reason to go with a reliable brand so you can get a replacement when you need one

I prefer the petrol (gasoline) mower. You aren't tethered by a cord and you got POWER! Self propelled - the way to go esp if you plan to turn autumn leaves into mulch.
