Help with tree identification please
I want to dedicate a newly planted tree in a local council. park as a memorial. There are 2 possible ones I can choose from but they aren’t labelled and the council don’t know what they are. Please could you help ? Thank you

I agree the top one looks like a cherry. Prunus. the bark is quite ornamental and there are many like it. Prunus serrula [Tibetan cherry] is one of the better ones and this does look very similar.
the bottom white barked ones look like one of the Silver birches but don't know which one, again there are several cultivars of them.

Thank you so much to both of you. I’m delighted it’s likely to be a cherry - I was hoping for something that would flower in the spring and the bark is pretty as well.

I agree with the above, but find it hard to believe that the council say they don't know what they are, someone must know, because they would have had to order them, they can't just say ''send us 2 trees'' and leave it at that, Derek.

The top, reddish bark, looks like a cherry. Given the location I guess some variety of ornamental cherry, probably the type commonly known as a "bird cherry"
