Help please with pot plant. This is a ficus moclame entrusted to me by my daughter. It’s been looking poorly with leaves dropping so I decided to trim off the dead branches. But I chopped off one of the living ones ! Can I save the main plant and could I try take a cutting off the bit I chopped off? I feel very guilty

Thank you very much please could you suggest best way to get it to take? Do I need to trim it , put plastic bag over it for example? And will ordinary compost do. I’ve only got that and no rooting powder

I've never propagated this one but generally you need about a 4-6" piece of stem. Pop it into a gritty/sandy compost cover with a poly bag /cut off pop bottle and keep warm and moist. if roots form it will take about 4-6 weeks.

I suspect the air is a bit dry for it so you need to mist it and if it is near a radiator move it away from it.
You may well get the severed bit to grow pot it up and keep it moist.
