Green Shield Bug.
We've never seen any problems with our plants due to them.

Thanks. I've looked it up and they are not supposed to be this far north. Warm April to blame, methinks.

there are about 45 species of shield bugs in the UK and this one is indeed the green shield bug Palomena prasina. It is about 12.5mm long and is one of the largest we get.

Oh, I do like these little creatures. We often see them in the garden, I think they are quite friendly. We live in East Yorkshire.

A green stink bug. Don't mess with this one. He can spray you with the most horrific stink. Generally not a problem, unless they get into your house and they come in masses.

I agree with Paul, they do have a stinky spray, but, they are nice to look at. I had the odd one on my hand..I’ve lain it down gently on a rock however..

I do like these. Had no idea they could be stinky - I've always just left the alone to get on with their lives.

I have come upon ones a few times over the years but they have just been calm and never sprayed. I consider it a treat to see one.

If you swat them or try to grab one or squash one, you'll learn why it's called a stink bug.

I don't doubt their capacity to cause a smell.
Just lucky I have noticed them first before accidentally threatening them. (And so far haven't had need to do anything else with them - hopefully never will do.)

Me neither. I haven't seen any around here. but we have other things that stink.

How do I say thanks?
