Tree, think the birds dropped a seed many years ago and have no idea what it is, is there any one who can name it for me from this photograph please. Lovely berries and the birds just love it. I thought it might be a maple of some kind, but have no idea really.

Looks like Sorbus aria, also known as Whitebeam. I planted one last winter. Nice gift from the birds, I hope it's where you can keep it. :-)

It is in the right place, thank you for that will have a look in my tree book in a moment and see if I can match it up. Many thanks Beattie.

Have had a quick look and it does appear to be a Whitebeam, great and thank you for your reply. I have wondered for a number of years, couldn't seem to match it with anything I had seen. Maybe there is another one planted on the dual carriageway side, seem to be able to see one across the field in the hedge bottom. Will go and investigate further later on. thanks again.

You're very welcome Oliveoil. I read what you put on the "Chickens" thread - we have lots in common! ;-)
