My small apple tree is going to have loads of apples on again, but every small truss has at least 6 apples on it. I think I was once told to thin these out, but by how much ?

I would leave 1-3 apples per truss, and one truss every 8 inches, assuming it's been dwarfed--longer spaces between trusses on full-sized trees.
