I noticed yesterday that my Fig tree was in a terrible state, see pictures, we have had no frost for some days but it looks to me as though it must have been attacked by frost some days ago and I have been to half soaked to notice it. Is there anything else that could have caused this sort of damage overnight?
Also will the tree recover (even if I have to wait until next year) or is it a 'Dead Duck' so that I will have to buy a new one?
I would be glad of your opinion.

That does look like frost damage. from what I understand they should recover. We had 2 very hard frosts in east Yorkshire last week.

Quite right, should recover. We had a few frosts down south and it burnt all the new shoots on my Yew hedge.

Thanks for the information, I shall look forward to eating fresh figs from the tree at some time at least, nothing better than fresh figs and yoghurt for breakfast.

Those figs are a stonking good size compared to mine. Ours tree is in a pot and i think yours is in the ground, which could account for it. I suspect that you won't have long to wait for your breakfast figs. Ours are ready at the end of summer.
Thank goodness only your leaves were affected.
