Every year I get an invasion of sturdy approx. one metre high flowers, some pink, some white and would like to know what they are. I live in Hampshire (chalky) and they are common hereabouts. See photo

Common in West London too, though unfortunately, we don't have any white ones, wish we did... they seed themselves readily, I just pull out the seedlings if there are too many by autumn.

as said on the next question I cant get it to grow in my garden though it is in other gardens in the village.

My Mother used to grow it as a cut flower to add to bunches she sold. Here I have bought some plants and dotted them about, most on the field where I hope they will colonise as the bees love them.
I think it needs neglect Seaburn, perhaps you are too kind!

Agree - I've only ever seen it on waste land, especially near the sea.
