Oh BS!!!!! LOL, LOL....
You can trim them a little after they've flowered, guest, but NOT into old wood, only on this year's growth.

Bluespruce, nice one. I've got an old one, had it for years, had three new heads and four new handles, still the same old broom though! And never pruned it once! Mind, it's also never flowered. Phil J

No need! ...they usually wear out or the handle snaps after a time.
