This year I grew Shirley tomatoes on someone’s recommendation, but I found where the tomato was attached to the “branch” of the plant there was always a really hard lump that I had to cut out before eating it. And no, I wasn’t picking them too soon. Did anyone else have this problem ?
Any recommendations for next year welcome.

Shirley is an old variety and has good flavour which is why I grow them. they do have that small woody 'core' bit inside and I just cut it out. I think it is just the way they are. so nothing you have done wrong.
