Can someone tell me what this plant is,the leaves have gone nearly black now(my friend has it on her balcony)and the flowers close at night.Looking it up I think it could be an OXALIS ,or of that family .
Thank you

yes it is an oxalis, its proper name escapes me but I find it a thug in the greenhouse. so far I haven't found it in the garden.

Sbg - I can let you have LOTS for the garden. I live next door to the National Collection of Weeds so am always waging war on it

no thanks Andrew, I expect it will move out soon.
Solada its only a weed if you don't want it but it has exploding seed pods that send seed about 0.5m away from the parent plant.

I also bought it from a garden centre but yes, as Seaburngirl has said it has exploding seed pods, and in my garden it spread out of control and became a right nuisance.
I spent a few hours uprooting it from everywhere in my garden and every time I saw a small seedling appear I uprooted it immediately. I got rid of it eventually but it was a nightmare.

Many thanks for all your responses.
As I said my friend has it and her balcony in a pot.
Yes I think it's pretty
Take care:)

I don't think it will last a bad winter as it grows in warmer climes.
Andrewr - sorry, but I live next to the National Collection of Weeds and have the slugs to prove it!

Arbuthnot - you are not limited to one National Collection. Different parts of the country can have them to demonstrate how they are affected by different growing conditions

sorry to disagree they seem to be fully hardy as a neighbour didn't loose his from the beds in the bad winters of 2010/11 2011/12. the seed is very viable. wonder if that is where mine came from originally as he gave me some tomato seedlings a few years ago.

How do I say thanks?
