Lots of choice - small Skimmias, small evergreens, ornamental kale, cyclamen, winter pansies or violas, trailing ivies, polyanthus, primroses, small euonymus, heathers, Heucheras, Gaultheria (ericaceous compost) Hellebores. Underplant with small spring bulbs to extend the flowering season.

I'm sure your local Garden Centre will also sell packs of plants for winter containers, too.
