the leaves is confusing me a bit as pretty pink flowers could be one of the early Prunus or Viburnums.
They usually flower on bare wood though. see what any one else suggests Pope dot.

Hi Seaburngirl I’m wondering if I’ve mistaken the pink for flowers, could it of been berries? Definitely not a viburnum.

The first thing I thought of was Forest Pansy. Bright pink flowers on bare wood. Heart shape leaves follow.

there are some pinked berried rowan varieties and the tree would still have had some of its leaves on by then.

Have a google and see if any match.

that's the one I was originally thinking of but no leaves usually when in flower.

I know the pink berries of the rowan are often not eaten as quickly as the red or orange ones.

I know it's a bit late but Tamarix ramosissima would be my suggestion.
