Is my camellia ok ? Help Please
my daughter gave me a new camellia at the end of January. It looks healthy and has lots of buds on ( which iit had when it arrived ) but they haven’t come out yet
I’ve just moved it to somewhere with more light. Will it still flower and is there anything else I should do ?

Yes if temperature, lighting & humidity are affected. It just needs a little time to adjust though they were only subtle changes. Plants hate being moved around. Be sure it has sufficient water & food.

Thank you very much for your help

Don't place Camellia in an east facing position where it will get early morning sun. If there's a frost the flower buds will scorch as will the leaves.

They can stand in bud for a long time before the flowers open so give it longer before worrying. When the flowers are over, if you intend to plant it out, choose a west facing position if you can and put lots of ericaceous compost in the hole. Water in late summer and early autumn, which is when the buds form. If its any comfort I planted one out this summer that had always flowered brilliantly in a pot but now has only one bud that doesn't want to open.
As Paul says just be patient and let it get on with what it needs to do. It looks nice and healthy .

I wouldn't worry at all mine don't open until April usually. As it is in a pot it will not be too affected by moving it around the garden. It wont know if its because you have moved it or the weather has changed. And as March can be warm one day and thick snow the next it will be fine. [ a 10C difference between today and yesterday]
Avoid having it where the early morning sun will shine on the buds. AS mentioned rapid defrosting of frozen buds causes them to go brown and mushy.

Thank you all so much, I’m very relieved it may still be alright

Each time you move the camilia, it goes through transplant shock and burns up a lot of precious energy to recover. It's a setback. If severe enough, it may drop it's buds altogether. I think it's fine just give it time to allocate
