I planted this laburnum last summer so don’t know what it should look like at this time of year - April. No sign of leaves - is it dead.

There are buds present so this is hopeful. Scratch a bit of bark with your thumb nail if it is green it is alive. if it is brown that bit and towards the tip is dead.
