I have a Torbay palm about 7 foot high and about 7 years old. It has flowered this year for the second time since I planted it in the garden and yesterday I discovered a shoot coming from the trunk. I would like to know if I can remove this and replant in a pot and how do I do this?

If that shoot was coming from the base, you could attempt to remove both it and some root - without the root attached, it won't grow, so if yours is growing out of the trunk, either leave it and let it form another trunk (more interesting shape) or remove it and bin it.
