our pachira has started sprouting several more shoots from the bottom of one of the intertwined trunks. should we cut this back or let it grow ? everything else is perfect.

hi, thanks for the answer. the top of the tree is thriving and producing new shoots regulary from each of the trunks. All the "older" leaves are a shade of dark green as seen in pictures of healthy specimens, the new leaves are of a lighter shade and are growing at a rapid pace.

Sounds normal and healthy to me, Charmandy.

It depends on whether you prefer the more formal look of the original trunks, or want to let it walk on the wild side. It won't hurt it at all, but sometimes sprouts from the base means something's wrong farther up. I would trace the sprouting trunk up, and see how its top is doing.
