This time I wonder if anyone could identify these flowers from bulbs planted in a couple of flowerbeds in town.
The are about 2 1/2ft high & have long stems with many dark purple, almost black flowers.

I love these and I have them in the garden but not flowered for 3 yrs now grrr.

When the council gardeners planted them in the autumn they put canes in, as they always do for Fritillaria imperialis, so naturally that's what I expected to see again this spring so you can imagine my surprise when these came up! 😱 I'd never seen them before - not even pictures of them!

Feverfew, they were certainly something different this year! I'm not sure but I don't think the flowers last as long as on the 'Crown Lily'. They had finished going over the next time I saw them.😞
