I have a eucalyptus tree in my garden and have been trying for the past 4 years to take a cutting from it for a friend, I have failed miserably every time. My latest, and current, attempt is air layering, I think that’s what it’s called, I’ve removed a section of the bark and wrapped around a compostible pot filled with soil and wrapped around cling film to hold it in place. I’m in Plymouth in the UK.
Does anyone have any suggestions, this latest attempt is less than a week old so I don’t know how successful it’s going to be.

They are supposed to be difficult from cutting. Have you tried semi ripe cuttings taken from now through to August?

Sowing seed is usually much more successful and its how Forestry people grow new ones because cuttings are so difficult - I've had 3 different seedlings pop up on their own down the years from a resident eucalyptus. There are videos on line on how to collect the seed and start them into growth, rather than waiting for it to occur naturally.

How do I say thanks?
